UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
To Acquire this superb
MERCEDES SPRINTER 316 2-BERTH
MOTORHOME
5 CYLINDER 160 BHP CDI ENGINE , 5-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
We are pleased to announce that above vehicle
has unexpectedly become available for re-sale , and that we , as the original suppliers , have been asked to handle the matter on behalf of the current owner .
Amongst the most well-appointed ‘vans you will
ever come across , this luxury 2-berth was converted by ourselves in August 2003
from a brand-new vehicle at the request of a special client . This Flagship 316 model was ordered with : Mercedes factory-fitted side-windows in darkened Privacy-Glass . Leather upholstery, wood-effect dash
, air-conditioning , climate-control ,
cruise-control , electric windows , electric heated mirrors , remote central-locking
, and programmable auxilliary heater . This is an under-bonnet diesel-fired heater which can be programmed to pre-heat the engine to operating temperature
, de-mist the windows , and produce ample hot water for the kitchen or washroom - and that’s all before you even get out of bed ! Starting a stone-cold
engine with all the wear-and-tear that that involves , and scraping ice off windscreens
is not necessary where this vehicle is concerned . Lots of time and money have
been lavished on this handsome motorhome , and the result is a sleek , fast driving-machine that will whisk you up into
the Scottish Highlands or across Europe as quickly and comfortably as any car ; that will provide comfortable sleeping and
dining arrangements for two people ; that will keep you snug and warm in the
bitterest of winters , and cool and fresh on the very hottest of days . A vehicle
in which it is possible , should you so wish , to prepare a three-course meal
, and which will enable you to watch digital TV anywhere in the UK and large parts of Europe .
If you are an individualist who would take pleasure from knowing that nobody else has a vehicle quite like yours ,
then this could be the answer . The basic empty van , as it came to us from the
Mercedes Dealership , cost in excess of £29,000 .
The conversion was carried out exactly to the client’s requirements , and
no expense was spared . Interior lay-out is as follows :
Two permanent single beds with super-soft 10" thick foam mattresses, (specially made
by the company who make hospital beds) ; very efficient compressor-type fridge which uses no gas and is 12 volt
only. Works brilliantly, draws a current on “Max” of only 3 amps, operates intermittently, and
has virtually no effect on the battery. Good sized sink with hot and cold mixer tap , and 4-burner hob, both in stainless steel with
smoked- glass lids. Full oven and grill . 2 seater dining area
using fixed rear seat and swivel passenger seat. Rear washroom with drop-down sink
, mixer tap and mirrored cabinet. Thetford swivel-bowl electric-flush cassette toilet ; outside shower (for washing off sand,
mud etc. ) Wardrobe, eight overhead lockers and
lots of storage-space, cupboards drawers etc. Under-floor water tanks are fitted, ( 80 litres fresh, 45 litres waste)
, and piping hot water is produced by any one of three different methods . An insulated boiler is installed at the rear
of the vehicle, with a series of copper tubes running through
it.
The engine coolant is pumped along under the chassis and through the boiler tubes , heating the fresh water in the
boiler in about 20 minutes. This is done by the auxilliary heater when the vehicle is stationary , or by the engine itself
whilst driving . The boiler also contains a mains element which heats the water whilst plugged-in on site. No gas is used
for water heating or space heating , and a 6 kg bottle of propane will last for
six months in daily use The heavily-insulated boiler ensures that the water stays hot for 12 hours.
In addition to the standard cab air-conditioning , a Denver "Headliner" air-con
unit , specially designed for Sprinter mini-buses and running the entire length of the vehicle , keeps the whole of the van cool and fresh regardless of outside temperature, (22,500 BTUs, 8.5Kw.
, intended to cater for 15 passengers ). This is of course engine-dependent
, and requires an idling engine to operate when stationary . As this is not viable on a quiet camp-site with other units close
by , a “ Truma Frostaire ” 2.3 Kw mains-operated air-con unit is also installed for use
on site. Three separate systems provide air-conditioning in all situations , and even the wash-room is heated and air-conditioned
!
An 800 watt inverter provides 240 volts through two sockets , and a further socket is supplied
by mains power when on hook-up. Two enormous "Varta" traction-type batteries , totalling 460 amp/hours capacity , provide
endless 12 volt power, and also drive the inverter. A special 4 stage split-charging system big enough to service batteries
of this size makes it possible to use the facilities for weeks on end without
access to mains hook-up if it were ever necessary.
In the habitation area , an Eberspacher 4Kw diesel-fired blown-air heating system provides warmth and
comfort (almost silently ) even in sub-zero temperatures , and the occupants of this motorhome remain comfortable
inside, entirely regardless of outside weather conditions. The vehicle was fully waxoyled and heavily insulated from new ,
and has been built with all-year-round use in mind. A Teleco fully automatic self-seeking sattelite dish, in conjunction with a Samsung 17" flat-screen TV , enables
Eastenders to be watched in Czechoslovakia, or The Bill to be viewed in Austria ! A Sky-Plus recording digibox
( for viewing programmes later if you're too busy at the time ) , and a Hitachi portable DVD player (playable through
the TV screen ), complete the TV / DVD viewing package.
Ventilation is provided by two "Omnivent" fan-driven roof extractor vents (very effective ) , and there
is an Omnistor 4-metre wind-out awning , top-box and rear ladder. A Phantom Pro-active automatic tracker is installed , which means that any unauthorised movement will result in the vehicle reporting
itself stolen , when it will be tracked by GPS and quickly recovered , (possibly
even before you knew it was gone!) A Road Angel super-accurate GPS speedometer and camera detecting device makes for
safer driving, and the vehicle is fitted with a Nokia hands-free telephone kit.
When this motorhome was originally commissioned , it was the owners intention that it would never be
sold on in any circumstances . He had achieved a life-long ambition , and set about enjoying it to the full . For this reason , the vehicle has been cared for and maintained with almost obsessive care . The oil
has been changed every 5000 miles rather than the Mercedes-recommended 20000
, and the fuel-filter every 10000 instead of the recommended 36000 . According to the official Mercedes Service Schedule , it should by now have been serviced three times , and be due again in 6000 miles .
In fact , it has now been serviced eighteen times , and is due again in 5000
miles . It has been washed and polished every single week without fail
, and although it has been used every day of it’s three-year life , it is
immaculate and never fails to draw admirers . No-one has ever driven it
apart from the owner himself , and it has never been involved in any bumps or
scrapes . At 74,000 it is just about run-in and starting to give of it’s
best , ( A properly-maintained Sprinter will cover 500,000 miles easily ; there
are plenty about with this mileage ) .
However , a dramatic and totally unexpected development in our client’s personal circumstances
has meant that he has , with the greatest reluctance , to offer this magnificent
vehicle for sale on the open market . The total cost of this machine when new
was over £55,000 , and all documents and receipts are available as proof of this
. We are currently looking for the highest offer in the region of £30,000 - £35.000 . If this is basically the type of thing
you are looking for , you will not find a better one .
For anyone who prefers seating arrangements rather than permanent beds , any lay-out alterations can be carried out by us .
We built it -
we can change it !!
The owner may be contacted direct by telephone on request
.
